This Privacy Policy covers the personal information Real Estate Alex ("we," "us," or "our") collects through realestatealex.com and when you call, text, email, or chat with us: what we collect and why, who receives it, how long we hold it, and what you can do about it, including under California law.
Real Estate Alex is a referral service, not a real estate broker, agent, lender, or buyer. We introduce homeowners to buyers in their area. We don't set prices, make offers, appraise, or negotiate, and we don't represent you or the buyer. Homeowners pay us nothing; buyers pay us for introductions, so we have a financial interest in homeowners choosing to sell to a buyer we introduce.
Information we collect
Most of what we hold is what you choose to tell us. We don't offer accounts or take payments on this site.
- Contact details: your name, phone number, and email address.
- Property information: the address of the property and what you tell us about it and your situation, such as its condition, whether anyone lives there, and your timeline.
- Your conversations with us: what you write in the chat on this site, and what you tell us by phone, text, or email. The chat is provided for us by a third-party chat and customer-communication service, which also helps us organize and answer inquiries.
- Consent records: if you agree to receive text messages from us, a record of what you agreed to and when.
- Technical information: the services that host this site and run its chat receive your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit, and may store small files such as cookies in your browser so that the site works properly.
- Advertising and analytics information: none at present, because no advertising or analytics tag is installed on this site. If one is added, it would collect your IP address, browser details, and the pages you visit.
Giving us information is voluntary, but without your contact details and property information we can't respond to you or introduce you to buyers.
How we use your information
- To respond to you and talk through your situation
- To introduce you to buyers in your area who may be interested in your property
- To call, text, or email you about your inquiry (we text you only with your consent)
- To keep records of consents and privacy requests, and to meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations
- To keep the site and our communications secure and working, and to measure how the site and our ads perform
Who receives your information
Each recipient below gets only the information listed for it.
- Buyers in your area receive your contact details and the property information you give us. They pay us for introductions, and a buyer who has your details may contact you directly by phone, text, or email. Each buyer is a separate business, and its own privacy practices govern what it does with your details.
- Our chat provider. The chat on this site runs on a third-party chat and customer-communication service. That service provider receives what you type into the chat.
- Google Fonts, which delivers this site's typefaces, receives your IP address, browser details, and the address of this site each time your browser fetches the fonts.
- Our hosting and messaging providers receive what they need to run the site and carry our calls, texts, and emails: your IP address and browser details, or your phone number or email address and the message itself.
- Advertising and analytics companies receive nothing from this site, because no advertising or analytics tag is installed today. If we add one, the company behind it would receive browsing data: your IP address, browser details, and the pages you visit.
- Courts, regulators, and law enforcement receive information when required by law. Our legal and accounting advisers see what they need in order to advise us, and we may also disclose information to protect our rights or someone's safety.
Sale and sharing of personal information
Under California law, the contact details and property information we pass to buyers, who pay us for introductions, may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Buyers are the only recipients of a sale or sharing, since no advertising or analytics tag is installed on this site.
A request on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or by email to hello@realestatealex.com, stops us sharing your details with buyers, and that is all it changes. Advertising and analytics tags are switched off only by a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, described below. Since an introduction works by passing your details to a buyer, we won't introduce you to one after you opt out unless you ask us to, and we'll check that choice with you before sharing anything. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Global Privacy Control
When your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we don't load advertising or analytics tags in it. We can't link that signal to details you give us in our chat or by phone, so to opt out of our sharing of those details, use the form on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page or email hello@realestatealex.com.
Your California privacy rights
California residents have these rights:
- Know and access: ask what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who received it, and get a copy
- Delete: ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions the law allows
- Correct: ask us to fix personal information about you that is inaccurate
- Opt out: tell us not to sell or share your personal information, which includes passing it to buyers
- Non-discrimination: you won't be refused service, charged a different price, or given a lower standard of service for using any of these rights
Requests can be sent through the form on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page or by email to hello@realestatealex.com. We act on an opt-out without asking you to prove who you are. Before answering a request to know, delete, or correct, we check that it is really yours: the email address and property address you give us must match our records, and we ask for nothing beyond what that check needs.
Someone you authorize can make a request for you. For an opt-out, the only thing we may ask them for is your signed permission. For a request to know, delete, or correct, we may also ask for your signed permission and confirm the request with you directly.
We act on an opt-out as soon as we can, and no later than 15 business days after we receive it. We confirm requests to know, delete, or correct within 10 business days and answer them within 45 calendar days; if we need up to 45 more days, we'll tell you why.
Text Messaging (SMS) Communications
If you give Real Estate Alex your phone number through realestatealex.com, or text us first, we may send you text messages (SMS) about your inquiry and about introducing you to buyers for your property. This section explains how that works.
How consent works
Providing your phone number in the chat on this site and ticking the consent box, or texting us first, is how you opt in to receive text messages from Real Estate Alex at that number. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of using our service or of any purchase. Consent applies only to the person who provided the number, and you can withdraw it at any time as described below.
Messages from buyers
Once you tell us about a property, buyers in your area, who pay us for introductions, receive your contact details (your phone number among them) and the property information you gave us. Any of those buyers may then contact you directly, by phone or by text. Their messages are not sent by Real Estate Alex. Your consent to texts from Real Estate Alex is not shared with or transferred to any buyer and does not cover their messages, and you can tell any buyer to stop contacting you at any time.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies based on your activity and the situation you contact us about. You should expect no more than about 4 messages per week from us. Message and data rates may apply.
How to stop messages
Reply STOP to any text message from us at any time to opt out. Once you reply STOP, we will send no further text messages to that number, aside from a one-time confirmation that you have been unsubscribed. Replying STOP stops our messages only; to stop us sharing your details with buyers, use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.

Carriers, including mobile network operators, are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How long we hold information
We keep your contact details, property information, and conversations with us for as long as we need them to respond to you, make and follow up on introductions, and handle any questions or disputes about them, and then delete them or remove what identifies you. We keep records of text-message consent, and of privacy requests and how we answered them, for as long as the law requires (for privacy requests, at least 24 months) and for as long as we may need them to show what you agreed to or asked for.
Security of your information
Only people who need your information can see it, and we take reasonable steps to keep it safe. Even so, no way of storing or sending data is completely secure, so we cannot promise it will never be exposed.
Children's privacy
This site and our service are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
This policy can change. When it does, we post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top.
